Digital Builds at Relay for Life of Second Life 2012

I’ve included a few pictures I took last night and early this morning of a few of the builds at Relay for Life of Second Life (“RFL of SL”) 2012 this year. The actual relay run took place this past weekend; July 14th to July 15th 2012, however the 35 sims used to hold this years event in Second Life are up until Friday July 20th. The various builds at RFL of SL started to come down today. My time, was limited to really explore the large & diverse variety of digital builds at RFL of SL 2012. I really wish I had more time. The pictures I did get to snap off hopefully gives you a little idea of what really is a magical event held each year in the virtual world of Second Life. Can’t wait till RFL of SL 2013 starts now! Go Relay Go! Fighting cancer, helping others and being a part of the “Great Good” that’s what it’s all about!

Let them know how much you liked their build!

Lots for me to see this weekend at SL9B when I can squeeze in the moments! Good to know that most of the builds will be up for another week after the music events are over at SL9B! Thanks for sharing this is on my list of builds to visit!

SL9B Community Event

Howdy, folks.

Once the torrent of last-minute requests for parcel name, description, landing point, and music stream changes finally let up, I made it my goal to wander through every exhibit at SL9B to see what y’all are sharing about yourselves and your communities with everyone out there.

And when people ask me for the SLURL or landmark of my own build, I’ve refused to give it out, saying “Go explore them all, and you’ll eventually come across mine.”

In my travels, I’ve been tossing a lot of my snapshots up to the SL9B Flickr Group, but there’s plenty more Second Life groups you can add your Flickr shots to. (Even an Official Second Life one the Lab uses for gathering snapshots of the day and other marketing material… read their terms first, okay?)

You can also post your travels to your mySL social feed, Google Plus, Facebook… whatever…

Short and sweet review of the Traktor Kontrol S4 by Native Instruments.

Review Scoop

Native Instruments has been making incremental improvements to their Traktor DJ software, every year or so, ever since Traktor was first introduced in 2000. The software has grown to be a very full-featured DJ performance suite and rightly holds a duopoly at the top of the market with Serato. The software is probably one of the best ones in the world passing Virtual DJ and Cross DJ.

The layout of the S4 is very intuitive. One of the main features I love are the jog wheels, scratcher, and effects. The deck is quite big, but I like that. The knobs and faders are spaced out well with the knobs being quite tall. In a low light DJ booth I’ve found it very easy to use. The deck is lit up very nice & subtle, there are a couple of nice touches like when you are in browse mode the decks that…

The Second Life 9th Birthday Party (“SL9B”) committee is hard at work getting ready for the mid June a party celebrating a large variety of ways people utilize this unique 3D digital world for ultimately communicating and sharing with others around the world!

SL9B Community Event

Well we’ve now looked over each and every one of the 488 exhibitor applications we received and sent acceptance emails to all those that have been accepted.

If you received an email titled SLB Acceptance then congratulations! Join our group, ‘The SLB Community’ and ask for an EA to help you to your plot.

For those that didn’t receive an email, we’re very sorry 😦 We would have loved it if there was room for everyone, but unfortunately there just wasn’t.  Not being accepted doesn’t stop you from celebrating SL9B though. Celebrations are happening all over the grid. Start your own display on your own land and let us know – we’ll advertise it on our celebration hub for you. There’s information on that here.

A bit of info about the applications. As I said, we received 488! We absolutely did not expect that many; in fact, based on…

Enjoyable “old school” playlist for the road!

WAVE MAKER MAGAZINE

Yesterday’s early morning trip to Lake Erie with my family inspired me to create this playlist. With only a few cars in sight, the highways were quiet and were in desperate need of some classics to fill the silence.

Red Hot Chili Peppers – The Zephyr Song

It would have been too obvious to put Californication‘s Road Trippin’ as one of the tracks on this playlist. I didn’t want to be that predictable, so here’s another great driving tune from By The Way:

The Band – Up On Cripple Creek

If you’re heading south and you’re passing barren green lands along the way, there is no better soundtrack to your drive than The Band’s The Brown Album:

Led Zeppelin – Ramble On

It took me a while to figure out which Led Zeppelin song I should put in this playlist. It was a toss-up between Going to California and Ramble On. I guess while driving at 6 in the morning, it’s best to…

“Every Thing She Does Is Magic” ~ Sting (live)

Two live versions of “Every Thing She Does is Magic” by Sting. The first version is in a medium to larger venue, well produced, and very good sound recording. The second is a recent live version of the same song in a smaller venue in San Francisco that must have been recorded by a patron near the front of the stage. The second video’s picture quality is great, however the sound recording isn’t as good as the first video version on this posting, but it is still a cool! Enjoy
